Matthews is clean, modern and comfortable. My sons haircuts have looked great, however, we specifically use the booking service as he is autistic and... haircuts and waiting can be a struggle. Our first visit was great, taken on time and seemed to understand what they were dealing with. On our second visit the booking before arrived after us ( we were 3 mins early) and was taken ahead, the male barber was available so offered to cut my sons hair. I explained his sensitivity and that he wouldnt chat, yet the barber persisted to talk to him, asking questions and speaking to him like a baby (he is 10). On our third visit we had to wait 10mins after our appointment, we explained again he was sensitive, unfortunately my son got upset and screamed during his haircut. Whilst the haircut was great and staff were generally good with him, (and i do understand its stressful dealing with a screaming child) comments like 'i need a vodka now' to other staff members within earshot but not directed at the parent are really not helpful. A better understanding of autism and sensitivies would go a long way and could make this an excellent barbers. Show more
